Dear SLAC trainees –

As you probably know, every year the National Science Foundation hosts an Annual Meeting where representatives from different NRT programs discuss their successes and challenges. Last year, many NRT students expressed interest in having a session that was focused on their research and making connections across programs. Being remote now allows us to easily add a side event for students to this year’s Annual Meeting, sponsored by UChicago’s Data Science in Energy and Environmental Research program, ASU’s Citizen-Centered Smart Cities and Smart Living, and the NRT program coordinators’ network. We invite you to join us for this two-hour, come-and-go event.

Virtual Research Networking Event for NRT trainees

Wednesday, January 27th

6-8pm ET | 5-7pm CT | 4-6pm MT | 3-5pm PT

Please register by Friday (1/22/2021) by filling out the registration form at https://forms.gle/2Qgpf4q4XkKYkZPe9

This event is open to all NRT trainees; you do not need to be registered for the NSF NRT Annual Meeting in order to participate in this networking event.

We will be using Spatial.Chat, a video chat platform that recreates real-life social interactions using avatars. As one moves closer to other avatars, their videos will pop up. This allows for spontaneous conversations with those nearby. You are encouraged to try out the Spatial.Chat demo ahead of time to familiarize yourself with the platform and explore its features. We will send login information and a tip sheet out to registrants as we approach the date of the event.

If you have any questions about this event, please contact NRT coordinators Emily Padston (padston@uchicago.edu) and Ding Ding Zheng (dingding.zheng@asu.edu).
